September update

Beautiful Wedding

Well, the wedding went wonderful! The newlyweds are already back from their honeymoon and are doing great. Right now Chris and Sadie are helping us with mission work as well as Chris is doing construction. It is wonderful having them around and having some help.

Home Update

Back in the Spring we were asked to look into buying a home for our family after the land for a camp and home fell through. So far every possibility has been a closed door. We have even looked into renting off and on and, until now, had not found anything. We figured, that since it was starting to get cold, we better look a little harder for a rental so that we did not spend the winter in our camper. We did finally find a single wide trailer on 5 acres to rent for $800.00. It was just in time before the cold weather hit. So, most of the month of September has either been looking for a home or moving in. (we are still moving in)
Our original plan almost 3 years ago was to find land where we could have camp and build a house. We feel very strongly about the vision for Camp Christa. God has blessed the camp ministry over the last 9 years and we believe that God will continue to do so. We are still praying, that if it be God’s will, He would supply the finances to obtain a piece of property to use for camp and home.

Camp Needs

We have several needs for camp that we would like all to pray about.
1. Land.
2. 6x12 utility trailer.
3. Two more 14x16 dorm tents. $1100 each.
4. Small flat bed trailer for platform under the big tent.

God is Working on Our Men

We have been praying for quite some time that God would give us some Godly men. Well back in the Spring God gave us a new couple, Ross and Helena. Since then Ross and Helena have been very faithful and a tremendous blessing. They even had us over for dinner after church on a Sunday. Very rare! Ross has led music for me and is willing to help however he can. We thank God for Ross and Helena!
We also been praying for the Hoskies and we are excited to see them back in church and helping some. Bro. Hoskie even came to Cortez to help us move one day. Praise the Lord!
Please continue to pray that men will yield to the Lord and be faithful to His service.

Thank you all so much for all your prayers and support.

Another Great Week

Our summer started off with several churches working together as a group called Go Forth, directed by bro Don Hillbun, helping us with VBS and Bible clubs. We were supposed to be building our fellowship hall but could not get the final approval so we did ministry. God was definitely in it because, as you know, many were saved. Our week at Camp was just as amazing! We had two young men from our sending church come in a week early to help me organize while Tammy and the girls were prep cooking almost every day for two weeks prior. Doing all this while everything is in storage and while we are still living in the camper added extra challenge, but all went well. As always, our sending church sends a few families to help with camp and by Saturday the 18th everyone had made it in. Sunday the 19th we started camp a little different than what I had planned. I expected to have at least 30 from Newcomb and was expecting about 90 altogether. When I went to pick up kids Sunday morning, there were only 2. We ended up having 10 from Newcomb but still had about 75 at camp. My prayer all along was that there would be nothing or nobody that would hinder Gods plan and purpose. God answered our prayers and gave us one of the smoothest running, and Spirit filled weeks at camp ever. There were 7 saved and at least that many that made decisions for full time service. God also showed me some things about camp this year. He showed me that it’s not about me or Newcomb or anyone else for that matter. God called me to start this camp 9 years ago as a ministry to the Native American people. We are planning on making a few changes between now and next year, our 10th anniversary, and will share those with you as the Lord leads. I do believe that God has big things in store for the camp ministry and I pray that God will give me wisdom and direction to lead this ministry in a way that is all about Jesus.

Home

Well we are still looking. If we cannot find anything to buy in a couple of weeks we will have to be more serious about renting again. Rentals are hard to find and expensive which is one reason why we’re looking to buy. Please keep praying!

Wedding

It is getting very close to our daughters big day. We have been working very hard and long on preparations and we are all very excited. Her wedding in on the 29th of August. They planned this right at the end of our summer ministries and on the day of opening hunting season. I like to give them a hard time, but it coming together nicely. Please be in prayer for Sadie and Chris as they start a new life together soon.

More to Come

We are doing more Bible Clubs this week and have revival planned for next week. Please keep praying for souls to be saved and lives changed.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and support!

Sadies story

It was March 14th, my 19th birthday, and my parents and I went out for breakfast. After we got our food and sat down, my Dad asked me quite a question! He asked, “Sadie, there is a young man interested in marring you! Do you know who it is?” At first, I was afraid to answer the question. I did not know if the young man that I thought God was lying on my heart was even the least bit interested in me! So he asked again, and through tears and a grin I replied, “Chris Kelly!?!” It was of coarse him and that evening we officially began our courtship. We already knew each other fairly well, so it did not take long for our courtship to blossom into an engagement! So on April 17th, 2009 Chris asked me to marry him!!! We are now getting married on August 29th, 2009. We will then live in Cortez and help my parents in the Indian ministries. It is truly a blessed thing to love, wait on, and serve the Lord! It is well worth it! I am so excited for the life Chris and I will live for the Lord. God is so good!

Chris' Story (confessions of my future son-in-law)

There have been countless times over the last seven or so years when the subject of courtship vs. dating was brought up. People thought our family was "off their rocker" in that we had a stand that we will not follow the worlds way on a lot of things, one of them being dating. I had a boss that used to drill me with things like, "So Chris what girl did you go out with last night" or "Who are you sweet on" and so forth. And when I would tell him where I stood on my standards of courtship he would say I was crazy and that I never would find a wife if I kept it up. But one just had to look at his life and see for themselves that his way did not hold water. He was on his third wife, his wife was on her second husband. Their kids and grand kids had remarried time after time again. And here he was telling me to do the same day after day! Satan has blinded this generation on this vary important subject of keeping our self pure and spotless for our spouse. Instead of us trying to find a spouse and giving our heart out every time we "try" one, we can just give God that area of our life and rest in totally peace that when the time is right he will, in his awesome grace, bring us the one He planned for us from the beginning of time. Better yet, we can spend the rest of our life with that person and not have past relationships marring and robing us of that joy. That's exactly what He will if we honer him bring the best one to us! I know, because that's just what he did in my life.

I met the Walters some years back when we helped build a building for the church Bro. Jason pastors in Newcomb N.M. I loved their family right off the bat! It was fun being around them and the highlight of my year any time we would visit them. At that time I was content being single and enjoyed spending my time serving when and where God would use me. That did not last long! God was working in my life and as I would pray for my future wife whoever she was, their oldest daughter, Sadie, would come across my mind. This continued to happen, so after much prayer I called her dad and told him I felt God leading me this way and wanted to let him know so he could join me in prayer and help guard Sadie's heart. He did not give me a "yes" or "no" right then but told me it did not surprise him and he and his wife would bathe it in prayer. He did caution me, though, that at that time they had some things to pray through. It was a time of giving the Lord full control of my life as I thought Sadie was all ready spoken for. And I loved her so much at that time I gave her over fully to God. I wanted God's best in my life but more importantly, I wanted His best in Sadie's life. Be that with me or not I had to come to the hard decision to let her go and trust God to work it out in His time and way.

A few weeks later, Bro. Jason called me back and said the Lord was moving in a different way and asked to set up a time his wife and him could call and talk some more to me. They did and after that he called again and asked me if I could make it out and help with a church camp for the Navajos. I was busy that week with work but thought I would try and see if I could get those days off. After much prayer and re-arranging my work schedule, I was able to take off and drive out to spend the week with them. It was hard not to pay Sadie any special attention but to just let God bring us together if it was his will. I made it through that week and had a nice talk again with her parents. It was exciting as I was starting to see God's hand in this and saw how He was working to bring this together!

I drove back out in Sep. to elk hunt and spend time with the family. While I was there, I was also able to talk some more with Bro Jason. By that time I knew it was going to come about...it was just a matter of timing and prayer. I saw the family again last November in Texas as we met up with them for a evening. That was the hardiest time to try and act myself but not let on to anything and to not pay any extra attention to Sadie! Through all this God was shaping our lives and molding us for that perfect image without the other one knowing (even though I knew at that time, I did not have a clue what Sadie thought of me!).

Then, on the 14th of March Sadie went out with her parents for breakfast and they told her I was interested in courting her. That was a Saturday morning and I knew they were going to ask her what her feelings were. All day I was out...just spaced out!
Trying to work all day with the knowledge that by now she had to know something was almost too much for me! The clock kept ticking and ticking with no news from them.

Finally, at 10pm or so my time I received word that it had gone real nice and Sadie was thrilled. Bro. Jason said I could call her for the first time after two the next day! That was the first and only time I did a pentecostal movement in my room! Just kidding, but I was so excited and moved that night I can't even explain it. God is so good! The Walters came out and spent some time with my family right after that and for the first time I was able to spend time with Sadie and get to know her better. It was fun and so nice! After that, she bought a cell phone and we spent hours over the next few weeks talking with each other and planing our lives.

After just a couple of weeks, the time came when I felt peace to bring this to the next level and ask her hand in marriage. Her family had gone to Summerville MO to visit Bro. Jason's dad and mom and I had the awesome opportunity to go out and spend a weekend with the family! It was the weekend I had been waiting on for a vary long time! After we ate that night, Sadie and myself (along with her parents) went down to the creek and took a walk. It was there that I put a ring on the prettiest hand in the whole world! It was the most beautiful thing I ever did in my life! And well worth the wait!

Would I do it all over again? You bet! I would not trade a moment of it! I did not, as some say, "miss" out on my life by waiting on the Lord and not dating. Some day real soon I will look down in the eyes of my wife and be able to say from the bottom of my heart that I have never been out with a girl, have never kissed some one in my whole life, have never touched one, or called one on the phone, or went out with one, Or gave my heart away to one. But I can tell Sadie that she is the Love of my life and has my whole heart - not just a piece of it but the whole thing and always will! If I had to relive my life I would not change a thing!

Well, life is not as simple as we thought it would be living in a camper. It is taking some getting use to. We finally have most of our things organized somewhere. The weather is finally nice which makes living in/out of a camper much easier. We would like everyone to pray about the possibility of us buying a home. We did not think it would be possible, but with God all things are possible. We are waiting on the bank to see what we can be pre-approved for. In the mean time we have found an old farm house on 11 acres that is a repo. We are praying that God will supply the necessary finances to make this possible. We will defiantly update you all as we learn more.
We have been home now for two Sundays and Wednesdays. I have to say they have been some of our best services in a long time. We have had a full house, sweet Spirit, and best of all, three young people come to Christ. Their names are Merissa, Brianna, and Macayla. We also have two new members, Ross and Helena. It's always good to spend a little time on the mountain top! Please keep these new believers and new members in your prayers.
Thanks you all so much for your prayers,
Jason

Back Home

We are finally home! It was a long and necessary trip. We had 17 appointments in 5 weeks. Some of our supporting churches we visited we had not seen in about 8 years. All of our visits went very well. We had many things we were praying about and most of our request were answered over the last 5 weeks. Praise the Lord! The best part to our travels however, is coming home. It was a little odd coming home to a hotel, but never the less, good to be home! We will stay in a hotel for a couple of days for only $25 a night, and then get our camper set up somewhere. The camper is currently set up at a friends. He has been such a blessing during this awkward time. Our goal is to be in a home no later than early fall. We will look at homes and land to see what is available for purchase and pray that, if it be God's will, God will provide the funds needed to help us get into the home He wants. We are also still praying about the possibility of land and building a home. If we go the land route, we would also have to find a rental as well. Please keep these things in your prayers. We will try to update as often as possible.
Our first Sunday back was absolutely wonderful! We had 38 people including 2 visitors that had started comming a couple of weeks before we got home. Their names are Ross and Helena. They said they wanted to make Newcomb Baptist Church their home. Praise the Lord! Our people had a welcome home sign up and brought a feast for lunch. It was a great day in the house of the Lord!
We also would like to announce some wonderful news. Our oldest daughter Sadie is engaged. She entered into a courtship on her birthday, March 14th, with a fine young man named Chris Kelly. About a month later Chris proposed and put a beautiful ring on Sadie's hand. We are all so excited for the two of them. I will have Sadie and Chris post their stories in the near future.
I also forgot to share with everyone that a young man named Larren asked Christ to save him the Sunday we left on our trip. We are expecting many more to come to Christ with the many summer ministries that will start in about 3 weeks.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.

Friday, April 10, 2009

We have been gone 3 Sundays so far and all is well. God has blessed us with safety, health(only little bugs), and some ministry needs. The truth is, we are blessed more than we deserve.
We are currently in South Arkansas and have spent the day at a local fair. It has been great family time!
It is a little hard being gone on Easter, but I know all is well and God is working. I will be preaching at two different churches, both Sunday morning and Sunday evening.
We will also have the opportunity to spend some time with my parents in Summersville, Mo.
Please pray for our family as we continue to travel.
Thanks so much!
Jason

Travel update

I am sorry we did not get a letter out at the end of the month. I have had computer issues. I
think all is fixed but I did have to reenter all contact information. If you have a minute and can email
me current contact information, that would be great. We will give a more detailed update at the end
of April or beginning of May.
We are currently on the road for a little bit while the weather warms up back west. Living in
the camper when it is cold is not the easiest. We will be home at the end of April and begin looking in
to the possibilities of a future home. Please keep this in your prayers.
God is definitely still at work in Newcomb. The Sunday we left we had a teenage young man
come to Christ. We also had two saved at our youth rally. Praise the Lord!
Thank you all so much for your prayers and support.
